on a lot of moulds we make we poducs a temporary timber frame on the part whilst the part is in the correct shape

1 Volvo 242 boot lid (steel)
this boot is in the process of removing the dints and prepairing the part to make a mould of it.

We have added a few layers of resin before we sanded it back to get the surface finish to mould it.

then the boot lid is buffed and polished ready to start forming the temporary joining flanges.

we use PVC plastic hot glued to form the flanges and we also use blocks of wood to reinforce the flanges.
